Grêmio have begun installing a ring of LED panels around the third tier of the Arena, part of the venue’s ongoing modernisation.
The system measures 600m in length and 96 cm in height, with equipment produced in South Korea. The club said the Arena will be the first stadium in Brazil with LG’s Ring LED.
The plan is to commercialise the platform, selling space and packages to sponsors to open new revenue.
Full delivery is targeted for the end of July. On the return from the World Cup, the Tricolor will be able to use the displays during matches.
Marcelo Marques’s stewardship of the Arena, between July and November last year, bankrolled upgrades, including a new pitch and increased investment in artificial lighting equipment he purchased.
The stadium’s internet will also be overhauled to provide greater speed and stability for supporters, with these works again covered by supporter and businessman Marcelo Marques.
