Grêmio v Corinthians U20: where to watch, line-ups, absences, referees

Late Monday afternoon (2), at 6 PM (Brasília time), Corinthians faces Grêmio at Airton Ferreira da Silva Stadium, in Eldorado do Sul (RS), in a match valid for the third round of the first phase of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Currently, with the partial completion of the games, Timãozinho occupies the sixth position in the national tournament with four points (one draw and one loss) – six goals scored and two conceded.

In the first round, the Sons of Terrão faced América-MG at Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, and won 4-0, last Saturday (21). In the second and last match, held in the middle of last week (25), the club from Parque São Jorge went to CT Evaristo de Macedo, Cidade Tricolor, to face Bahia, and ended up drawing 2-2.

Probable Corinthians Lineup

Coach William Batista is expected to start the match with: Matheus Corrêa; João Vitor ‘Jacaré’, Lorenzo, Iago Machado, and Guilherme Pires; Luiz Gustavo Bahia, Luiz Eduardo, and Guilherme Amorim; Nicollas, Luiz Fernando, and Luiz Fábio ‘Favela’.

On the official Corinthians website, midfielder Luiz Eduardo, 18, previewed the match against the team from Rio Grande do Sul, which was defeated in the first two rounds and is currently at the bottom of the tournament: “It will be a very difficult game, playing away is always an important factor, but my team is very qualified, united, and focused on having a great game and coming back with a victory.”

Refereeing

The referee will be Francisco Soares Dias, assisted by Claiton Timm and Jeissyevan Freitag Gonçalves. The fourth official will be Eduardo Fernandes Bastos.

Broadcast

Corinthians fans who want to follow the match will have SporTV (Grupo Globo's pay TV) as the only option. After the match, Central do Timão will provide a summary of everything that happened during the 90 minutes of play.

Next Commitment

After facing Grêmio away from home for the third round of the Brasileirão's first phase, Corinthians will remain focused on the national competition. Timãozinho will face Fortaleza at Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, for the fourth round of the national competition. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has not yet released the details of the match – date and time.
