Grêmio have undergone a 100-day reset, replacing the coaching staff and revamping the squad, vice-president Antônio Dutra Júnior said. He outlined how debt payments of R$ 100 million under president Odorico Roman's board allowed fresh investment.
According to Globo.com, there were 21 departures and seven arrivals, including Luís Castro, who is seen as helping the club modernise. In that spell, Grêmio won the Gaúcho title and sit seventh in the Brasileirão on 11 points. The aim is to fight for a 2027 Conmebol Libertadores place.
Moves for Tetê, around R$ 38 million, and Nardoni, around R$ 46 million, were made possible by those repayments. CEO Alex Leitão and president Odorico Roman led the effort, easing short-term pressure and creating room for signings. Investor Celso Rigo supported the project.
Dutra Júnior, director Rafael Lima and executive Paulo Pelaipe executed the overhaul, with the executive's speed seen as decisive. In exit talks the club sought reduced settlements or longer instalments, with figures kept confidential. The monthly wage bill is not yet at the desired level.
The leadership considers 2026 a transition to organise processes and consolidate work at CT Luiz Carvalho. From 2027, the plan is to raise Grêmio's level, ideally with Libertadores participation.
Dutra Júnior also addressed Marlon's injury and said early, consistent communication about administrative and financial reorganisation helped restore the club's credibility. Grêmio target the best possible finish in every competition, and if they secure a Libertadores berth, planning will be adjusted to that standard.
