Manchester City enjoyed their trip to Villarreal and outclassed their La Liga opponents in a 2-0 win.
Teams are finding it impossible to deal with Erling Haaland this season, with the Norwegian only going one game without finding the net so far this campaign.
It took 17 minutes for the striker to find the net against Villarreal as City knocked the ball around with ease before Rico Lewis found space in the box and pulled the ball back for Haaland to finish past Luiz Júnior.
It was 2-0 just before half-time. Again, the Villarreal defence looked static as Savinho was able to pick his spot and find the head of Bernardo Silva to head home and effectively seal the tie by the break.
Indeed, it was hard to see just how Villarreal would find a way back into the game – only being particularly careless would see them lose control of the game.
The home side did have a good chance to pull one goal back late on when substitute Tani Oluwaseyi hit the post after City conceded an unnecessary corner.
In the end, there was a gulf of quality between the two sides with the Yellow Submarine never really looking like a threat to Pep Guardiola's side despite a second half improvement.
That's now three wins in a row for City in all competitions without a goal conceded as the Citizens swap Vila-Real for Villa Park.
