Habib Beye is close to being appointed Olympique de Marseille head coach, with the move awaiting clearance from the French league’s legal commission to finalise his release from Stade Rennais, RMC Sport reports.
Owner Frank McCourt, speaking at La Commanderie alongside Medhi Benatia, confirmed that Beye’s arrival is imminent.
The former OM defender is understood to have accepted a short-term contract, which helped speed up negotiations. The 48-year-old would return to the Vélodrome amid institutional change and pressure to secure a Ligue 1 podium.
Following the decision to retain Benatia as sporting director, Beye is now set to join as manager.
Beye previously led Red Star FC and was sacked as Stade Rennais manager the day before Roberto De Zerbi’s exit.
