Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.

The former Spurs boss discussing Eddie Howe and his team ahead of the weekend.

A 2pm kick-off on Sunday.

Harry Redknapp talking to BetVictor ahead of Newcastle United visiting Chelsea:

“I know they lost last week at Anfield but I couldn’t help but be impressed by Chelsea.

“On another day, they at least get a point.

“The depth of this squad is ridiculous, a player like Pedro Neto would start for most teams in the league and we saw how dangerous he was as a sub when he came on.

“I don’t think Eddie Howe is under any pressure but he could do with a decent result soon.

“They’ve been a bit goal shy of late, they’ve badly missed Alexander Isak and will be hoping their talisman can find his feet instantly.

“You’ve got to favour Chelsea here; they look in a really good place at the minute.

“Score Prediction: Chelsea 2 Newcastle 0.

“One to watch – I think Nicolas Jackson is an underrated striker. People often point to the chances he misses but his movement is excellent, and he can be a good finisher. You forget his age too, I think there’s a lot more to come from him over the next few seasons.”

I have no argument with Harry Redknapp predicting a home win on Sunday, after all, I’m sure we will see pretty much all of the other ‘experts’ doing the same.

However, it is interesting to see the spin that is put on the situation at the two clubs, when you take into account the fact that despite their incredible/ridiculous spending, Newcastle United will come out of the weekend ahead of Chelsea in the table, if getting an away win.

Harry Redknapp says Chelsea are ‘in a really good place at the minute’ and yet they lost at Liverpool in their last match when to be honest, I didn’t think they were great, especially in defence. Liverpool should have scored more than twice and Chelsea only had two efforts on target. Whilst in their previous PL match, Chelsea trailed at home to Forest, before eventually escaping with a point.

Nobody pretends it will be easy for Newcastle United but on each of these last three visits to Stamford Bridge, United have scored at least once each time. Whilst in the three years Eddie Howe has been at Newcastle, the team have never gone three Premier League matches without a win. These last three PL performances haven’t been poor, it is just wasting great chances against Everton and Brighton that have really let NUFC down.

I am very confident that Newcastle United will score at least once on Sunday, hopefully a return to goalscoring can help United upset the predictions of certain defeat from so many.
