Hemir is reportedly set to head back to Sunderland this summer after Moreirense decided against making his loan permanent, with O Jogo reporting the Portuguese club are unconvinced by his impact.

The Portugal Under-20 international joined from Benfica in summer 2023 and made 24 senior appearances before spending most of last season with Juventus’ B team. He moved to Moreirense on a season-long loan in the final week of last summer’s transfer window.

At the time, then-sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said the move was chosen as the right environment to aid Hemir’s development.

Hemir debuted in a 2-0 win at Arouca in November and scored his first goal on his fourth outing in a 3-3 draw with Estoril. He added a second in a 1-1 draw with Nacional last month.

The 22-year-old has been an unused substitute in two recent league matches and featured only late on in a 4-1 defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica last weekend.

A Bola previously reported he was left on the bench for a 3-0 loss at Porto due to inappropriate behaviour before the game.
