O Jogo claims Moreirense have decided against triggering the permanent option in Hemir’s loan, which would see the 22-year-old return to Sunderland this summer.
The Portugal Under-20 forward made 24 senior appearances for the Black Cats after joining from Benfica in summer 2023. He spent most of last season in Juventus’s B team. With first-team minutes limited, he joined Moreirense on a season-long loan in the final week of last summer’s window.
At the time, then sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said the club felt the move offered the right environment for Hemir’s next step and wished him well.
He debuted in November in a 2-0 win at Arouca and scored his first for the club in a 3-3 draw with Estoril on his fourth appearance. He added a second last month in a 1-1 draw with Nacional.
Game time has been scarce of late. He was an unused substitute in recent league fixtures and made only a late appearance in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.
A Bola previously reported he remained on the bench in a 3-0 loss at Porto due to what the outlet described as inappropriate behaviour before the match.
