Man City star Lauren Hemp urged her team-mates to “stay humble” after thumping rivals Manchester United 3-0.

Hemp returned to the starting 11 for City after recovering from an ankle injury and scored the third for her side following goals from Rebecca Knaak and Bunny Shaw.

The win sees the Cityzens move four points clear at the top of the WSL, with second place Chelsea still to play this weekend, with Sonia Bompastor’s side set to face Liverpool on Sunday.

“It’s so exciting,” Hemp told BBC Sport after the victory.

“It’s important we stay humble. We know where we’re at and we’re in a good place as a team. Hopefully we’ll continue this run.

“I absolutely loved it. It’s so nice to be back with all the girls. Today we showed the mentality that we needed to show. We got a clean sheet as well which is so important for us and, most importantly, we got the three points.”
