Liverpool are now reportedly interested in the next Paul Pogba.

He may have played most of his career for the club's arch rivals but there is no point denying the Frenchman was a special player.

Pogba was one of those players who could change a game almost on his own, blending physical power, technical skill, and flair in a way few midfielders have managed.

He had a rare combination of size, strength, and elegance on the ball, which made him difficult to dispossess and even harder to predict. Pogba could dictate tempo from deep positions, drive forward with the ball, or produce moments of magic in the final third.

What really set him apart was his creativity. He had the vision to spot passes others wouldn’t even attempt, and the technique to execute them under pressure.

Whether it was a defence-splitting through ball or a long-range strike, he had a habit of producing highlight-reel moments in big games.Pogba also brought personality and confidence to the pitch.He played with swagger, often lifting the energy of those around him.

When fully fit and focused, he was capable of dominating midfields at the highest level.

His inconsistency was often debated, but at his best, he was truly world class and a unique presence in modern football.

At his peak, he was the kind of midfielder who could define matches and elevate an entire team.

It's often unfair to compare players, especially young players coming through but sometimes comparisons are apt, and in the case of Liverpool's most recent transfer link, this is definitely true.

Since Michael Edwards returned, Liverpool’s recruitment setup has taken a clear step forward and now feels a lot more ambitious and global in its approach.

Rather than sticking to the usual, well-worn markets, the club has widened its scouting reach across the world. Liverpool are now actively tracking players in regions and competitions that previously didn’t always get as much attention.

That shift is already starting to show in the type of signings being made. Young players like Armin Pécsi, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye have all arrived as part of this broader recruitment strategy.

Sidy Barhama Ndiaye is another name firmly on the club’s radar after spending time training with Liverpool last summer, and he’s expected to join once he turns 18 unless something changes.

Samuel Martinez is also expected to link-up with Liverpool next summer after signing a five-year contract.

A big focus of this new approach has been youth tournaments, with Liverpool working hard to spot talent early before it becomes widely known.

The recruitment team have put a lot of effort into identifying standout performers at international youth level, including the U17 World Cup, where several players have caught the eye.

Martinez was spotted at the U17 Copa America, meanwhile Liverpool have now set their sights on a midfielder from the U17 AFCON.

16-year-old Diego Pelembe has been one of the best midfielders at the tournament so far. The captain of Mozambique, he is the son of Elias Pelembe, who is an icon of Mozambique football and actually captained the senior national team.

Father like son.

Diego is now making great strides and as a midfielder he caught the eye with two goals in four games for Mozambique helping his country qualify for the World Cup taking place in Qatar.

As a result, Pelembe has attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Porto and Liverpool. The Reds are keen to take him on a trial. However, Pelembe's current club would prefer to do a deal without a trial.

It's an interesting situation and it remains to be seen how things develop. But it would be a shame if a talented player was not able to be given a chance to impress and get a dream move to Anfield just over such a trivial issue.

In terms of his playing profile, Pelembe is an impressive athlete. He's 1.90 metres tall and he is very technically gifted, capable of beating players with ease.

The way he plays, means there is a bit of Pogba about him. From some of the goals he scored, to his energy combined with his technical and physical ability - he plays the game like a young Pogba.

And that is why Liverpool should do everything in their power to lure him to Anfield.
