Facundo Buonanotte has hailed Enzo Fernandez as a “key pillar” and revealed he learns from the midfielder every day.

Buonanotte was a surprise loan signing from Brighton, and the Argentine will provide cover in the number position, whilst he can also play wide if needed.

There isn’t a buy option in the deal, but Chelsea reportedly have the opportunity to match any offer received for the player next summer.

Facundo Buonanotte praises Enzo Fernandez

With Cole Palmer injured, Buonanotte has perhaps had more opportunities than he would have expected at this stage of the season.

Buonanotte scored his first Chelsea goal against Lincoln, whilst he also started the win against Benfica in the Champions League.

The Argentina international has made just three appearances this season, with just one of those in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leicester will have to bide his time, but he appears to be settling in well at Chelsea, and has praised fellow countryman Fernandez.

“He’s a key pillar,” Buonanotte said as quoted on X.com.

“I learn from him every day, and he was the first to write to me when my move to the club was finalised.

“I don’t need to say anything about what he’s like on the pitch, because he’s a wonderful player and everyone sees that; but beyond that, he’s a great person.”

Enzo Fernandez making an impact

It seems Fernandez is making an impact both on and off the pitch, and the World Cup winner has made a good start to the season.

Fernandez put in an impressive performance against Liverpool, and is very much one of Chelsea’s most important players.

The 24-year-old has played in a more advanced position at times this season, and has managed three goals and an assist from ten appearances in all competitions.
