Liverpool will renew acquaintances with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, when both sides lock horns for a place in the League Cup last eight.
The Reds suffered a relapse over the weekend, falling to a fourth Premier League defeat in a row after losing 3-2 at Brentford.
Arne Slot’s side could do with a win to boost the morale in the dressing room, but must do so against an opponent they haven’t beaten since October last year.
The Reds are winless against the Eagles in their last three meetings and have yet to avenge their FA Cup final defeat.
Palace’s recent form will boost them. They are winless in their last four games across all competitions (D1, L3).
Slot has struggled to find a winning formula over the past few weeks, and a must-win clash against Aston Villa this weekend could force him to ring the changes.
Injuries will also play a part in Slot’s decision-making for tonight’s crunch showdown, but he may have to get creative with his line-up.
Third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman could earn a rare start in place of Giorgio Mamardashvilli.
In defence, there could be a shocking start for right back Calvin Ramsay, while Joe Gomez partners skipper Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the backline.
Andrew Robertson should return to the starting XI in place of Milos Kerkez at left back.
Injury was added to insult for Liverpool against Brentford, as Curtis Jones was withdrawn with a knock midway through the second half.
Slot is hopeful that the England international avoided a serious issue, but Alexis Mac Allister should reclaim his spot in midfield.
The Argentine midfielder will likely anchor the midfield alongside Wataru Endo.
Dominik Szoboszlai should return to his more familiar attacking midfield role, flanked by Rio Ngumoha and Federico Chiesa.
Hugo Ekitike will lead the line despite having an off day against Brentford.
