Rob Edwards has been sacked by Wolves, according to widespread reports, with Cesar Peixoto lined up to replace him. The decision has jolted recent optimism around Molineux.
Yesterday, reports in Portugal said talks had taken place to bring in Peixoto. Late last night, Fabrizio Romano reported an agreement in principle.
This morning, multiple reports said Edwards had been dismissed, leaving players and staff blindsided and many unhappy.
On X, Pete O’Rourke said Edwards first learned of the rumours from family members, then phoned the club to check. He added that officials confirmed his sacking despite his role in early summer business and a key renewal.
Edwards had been discussing plans for the new season and was credited with helping secure Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, plus a new contract for Andre. He struggled in the Premier League and many fans had turned on him by the end, though recent steps had brought some back on side.
Appointing Peixoto now looks a major gamble by Wolves.
