Fabian Hurzeler is considering a larger role for Charalampos Kostoulas after his impact against West Ham at the Amex, TheArgus.co.uk reports.
The young Greek forward first tested Alphonse Areola with a powerful strike after neat footwork. He later produced a spectacular overhead kick that caused controversy and led to the Georginio Rutter goal which secured a 1-1 draw. He also sent another attempt high into the North Stand, eager to impress.
Hurzeler said the performance mirrored what Kostoulas has shown increasingly in training, finding solutions in tight spaces and creating moments. He praised the creativity and the joy that he felt had been lacking before the break, adding that the player keeps pushing and that this is positive.
Asked if Kostoulas could get more minutes or even start, Hurzeler said there was no reason it could not happen. The forward has had limited Premier League action and opened his account with a late header in the 4-2 defeat at Manchester United.
He has also recently broken into the senior Greece squad as they completed an unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign. Tommy Watson and Kaoru Mitoma were among those back in training at Lancing on Tuesday, alongside Solly March.
Albion now prepare to visit Liverpool, who are buoyed by their 1-0 win over Inter at the San Siro on Tuesday night.
