Jamie Redknapp thinks this season will be tough for Chelsea because of the Club World Cup, but doesn’t see a situation in which Enzo Maresca will be under pressure from the club.
Chelsea have made a disappointing start to the season and have won just two of their first six league games, and have taken just eight points from a possible 18.
Maresca has come under pressure following back to back defeats to Manchester United and Brighton, and that noise would become louder with defeat to Liverpool.
Maresca had a brilliant first season in charge winning both the Conference League and Club World Cup, as well as guiding Chelsea back to the Champions League.
The Italian is understood to still have total backing from the Chelsea hierarchy, and they reportedly aren’t considering a change anytime soon.
Chelsea are set to review Maresca at the end of the season, with the objective once again to qualify for the Champions League and go on a deep run in the cup competitions.

Despite doing a good job so far, some fans are unhappy with Maresca, but Redknapp has admitted he can’t see a situation where he’d be under pressure from the club.
“I think that there is definitely a consequence of what happened of playing in the Club World Cup,” he told Sky Sports News’ TikTok channel.
“I think for Chelsea it’s going to be a really tough season because they’ve not had the rest that other clubs have had.
“The performance and the way that they played in the [Club World Cup] final was absolutely fantastic, so he has got money in the bank.
“But I don’t see a situation where he’s under pressure from the club. He just needs to make sure he gets good results.”
