Enzo Maresca has provided an update on Cole Palmer and his recovery from a groin injury as he addressed the media ahead of Saturday’s game against Tottenham.
Palmer has been plagued by a groin injury at the start of the season which has caused him problems since the Club World Cup.
The England international has made just four appearances this campaign, and Maresca confirmed earlier this month Palmer would be sidelined for another six weeks.
If everything goes to plan then Palmer could be available for either the Barcelona or Arsenal games at the end of November.
Chelsea haven’t won a game Palmer has featured in this season, and they arguably felt his absence most in the defeat to Sunderland.

The Blues are reportedly being careful with Palmer, with a real emphasis on him being fit for the long term, and Maresca provided an update ahead of the Tottenham game.
“I just met him in the canteen for breakfast and I told him, I will say that in one week you are back,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“He was laughing. Now with Cole, exactly the same plan. Wait and hopefully he can be back soon.”
In Palmer’s absence it’s likely Maresca will opt to field Enzo Fernandez in the more advanced number ten position against Spurs.
Chelsea head into the weekend sitting ninth in the table having lost to Sunderland last time out, whilst Spurs are flying high in third.

The Blues desperately need a response, and have a great record against their rivals, with Spurs managing just one win in the last 11 meetings.
A win could give Chelsea the momentum to go on another run, and with Wolves and Burnley up next, they would have a very good chance to head into the international break with three wins on the spin.
