Ibrahim Sangare is in advanced talks to extend his Nottingham Forest contract to 2029 at the City Ground, according to Nottingham Post.

The Ivory Coast international, 28, is currently under contract until 2028 and was linked with Manchester United earlier this year.

Securing him long term would underline Forest's bid to keep their core and would hand Oliver Glasner a timely boost before 2026/27. If all goes to plan, Sangare could be central to the Austrian's system as he looks to move the Reds up the Premier League table.

His value has grown since Elliot Anderson's £116 million move to Manchester City this month. The pair had forged a strong partnership, and Forest must now find a new midfield foil.

Sangare delivered his best Forest season in 2025/26. Signed from PSV Eindhoven for £30 million in summer 2023, he overcame a slow start and carried his form into the World Cup, helping Ivory Coast reach the last 32.

Forest's broader strategy includes tying down key players. Murillo and Matz Sels have already agreed extensions, and talks continue with full-back Neco Williams.

Recruiting a midfield partner for Sangare is on the agenda this summer, with targets being assessed to replace Anderson.
