Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has sent a heartfelt message to the fans as pressure continues to build following the club’s woeful run of form.

The Reds hit a new low on Wednesday night when they were swept aside 4-1 by PSV Eindhoven, marking their ninth defeat in 12 games across all competitions.

That result came just days after another flat performance in the 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at Anfield, turning up the pressure on manager Arne Slot and his players.

Konate has been one of Liverpool’s underperforming players this season. The 26-year-old has been repeatedly singled out, and his schoolboy error on Wednesday led to PSV’s third goal.

He has struggled to find his rhythm and has been caught out one too many times, which has contributed to Liverpool’s inability to stem the bleeding.

With his form contributing to Liverpool’s worst run of form in 71 years, the France international has spoken publicly for the first time since coming under intense scrutiny.

Konate said he understands the frustration of the Liverpool fans and vowed that the team will not stop fighting to turn their miserable form around.

“We have to take this moment on the chest,” the Frenchman wrote on his X account.

“Criticism is part of football, and we’ll fight back every time and come through this storm. In these moments, the fans matter most.

“We know we need to improve, and we’ll keep fighting for you. Always.”

Konate has been withdrawn in several games when Liverpool were chasing a game.

He was replaced by Hugo Ekitike in the 55th minute against Forest and again by Federico Chiesa in the 76th minute of the Champions League defeat to PSV.

Liverpool are going through a defensive crisis with summer signing Giovanni Leoni out for the season and Joe Gomez struggling with fitness issues.

Slot has confirmed ahead of Sunday’s trip to West Ham United that Konate had missed two days of training before the PSV game, although he did not reveal the reason.

The Dutch head coach revealed that Gomez is getting close to full fitness, but Konate will likely keep his place against West Ham despite his poor form.
