Walter Zenga has urged Inter Milan to intensify their pursuit of out-of-favor Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Speaking to Tuttosport via FCInter1908, Zenga revealed his admiration for the former Empoli star.

Guglielmo Vicario could soon say goodbye to North London despite remaining Thomas Frank’s first option between the sticks.

Indeed, the 31-year-old has grown frustrated with his mistreatment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Furthermore, Spurs’ underwhelming Premier League campaign has further convinced Vicario to push for a return to Serie A.

Meanwhile, Inter, who tried to sign him in the summer of 2023, would be willing to offer him an escape route from England.

However, any potential transfer would have to wait until the end of the season as Yann Sommer remains the first-choice keeper.

Yet, the Swiss veteran is likely to leave the club when his contract runs out next June.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are eager to sign a reliable shot-stopper after Josep Martinez failed to convince the Inter chiefs.

“If you ask me about Vicario at Inter, you’re pushing on an open door,” Zenga said.

“I have no doubts, and I’ll say yes straight away,” he was adamant. “We’re talking about a really strong goalkeeper and a decent lad.

“I’d particularly like to see him between the Nerazzurri posts as a solution, but the names of Caprile and Carnesecchi would be just as valid.

“Vic has a great quality: he lives for football and doesn’t use football to live. That’s no small thing these days, believe me.

“He’s always remained the same kid from the beginning: money and success haven’t changed him at all. That’s a very important quality,” Zenga added.

“He’s a strong, complete goalkeeper: explosive between the posts.

“If I played him back then, there must have been a reason,” he laughed.
