Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta delivered his verdict on the managerial shift at San Siro during the summer.
Speaking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri chief also called for patience.
Simone Inzaghi left Inter after four years to take charge of Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal in early June.
Despite initially pursuing Como boss Cesc Fabregas, the Nerazzurri appointed Cristian Chivu as the new manager later that month.
Indeed, Inter needed to find a replacement fast, with the FIFA Club World Cup on the horizon.
Although the Italian powerhouse faltered in the tournament, Chivu got his tenure in Serie A off to a flyer.
Yet, following a 5-0 rout of Torino, Inter lost back-to-back league games to Udinese and Juventus.
Those defeats put the 44-year-old under pressure, but he weathered the storm in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo.
However, Inter failed to shine again, as they had to survive a late scare to collect three points against the top-flight newcomers.

“We need patience,” Marotta stated. “We’re in a highly transitional phase. It’s only matchday four, and by the third round, we played perhaps the most important game of the year away from home.
“Calm is necessary. With a new coach, it’s natural to face difficulties that didn’t exist in previous years.
“We’re confident that our work and the values we demonstrate are enough to get us back to where we want to be,” he added.
Despite enduring partial success in Serie A, Chivu won on his touchline debut in the Champions League.
Indeed, Marcus Thuram scored twice to inspire Inter to a 2-0 win at Ajax.
Last night’s win saw Inter go back-to-back for the first time under Chivu.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri will take Saturday’s trip to Sardinia to face Cagliari in high spirits.
