Speaking to DAZN before kick-off at San Siro, Marotta confirmed that Inter are monitoring opportunities but are not under pressure to act unless conditions align with the club’s needs.

Addressing the links to João Cancelo, the CEO stressed that the situation is closely tied to Denzel Dumfries’ recovery.

“We don’t have a great need, and this market doesn’t offer many opportunities,” Marotta explained.

“But because we have problems with Dumfries’ recovery, we want to see whether the market can provide a player with the right characteristics, someone who is on the same level as the others. We’re in an exploratory phase and we’ll see what happens.”

Marotta also responded to rumours involving Davide Frattesi, whose name has been linked with Galatasaray and Juventus in recent weeks.

However, he made it clear that Inter have not received formal approaches and that the midfielder has not asked to leave.

“Our position on Frattesi is simple,” Marotta said.

“If a player wants to leave, we will sit down and evaluate the situation. But we’re not in that position. He doesn’t want to leave and we haven’t received offers from this or that club. We remain open to dialogue, but there’s nothing concrete.”

Meanwhile, On the Cancelo front, Marotta acknowledged the financial complexity of any potential deal.

Indeed, he hinted at possible discussions with Al-Hilal involving defensive profiles.

“He has a contract that no Italian club could sustain on its own,” Marotta concluded.

“If we were to enter negotiations, we know they would ask for a central defender in return. Everything we do is aimed at addressing the issue on the right flank caused by Dumfries’ absence.”
