Why Frattesi is unlikely to join Juventus or Galatasaray in January

Reports on Tuesday suggest that Davide Frattesi is increasingly unlikely to leave Inter during the January transfer window, as Juventus and Galatasaray have not yet satisfied demands for the Nerazzurri midfielder.

Reports Frattesi exit on standby

Frattesi has fallen down the pecking order in San Siro under Cristian Chivu, whose midfield department contains Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Piotr Zielinski, Petar Sucic and Andy Diouf.

The Italy international has only been afforded 19 minutes of Serie A game time over the last nine fixtures.

There have been suggestions that he is looking to leave Inter in January, however, despite reports linking him to both Galatasaray and Juventus, neither club have been able to satisfy the Nerazzurri demands.

That is because Inter are hoping to either sell Frattesi permanently in January, or to send him out on loan with a fixed obligation to buy. Either way, the Nerazzurri are hoping to raise around €35m if Frattesi is to leave.

There had been reports on Monday that Galatasaray were willing to invest €5m on a loan deal for Frattesi with a future option to buy for an additional €30m, but this was not enough for Inter to give the green light. The Nerazzurri are also not interested in a part-exchange deal involving Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara according to Calciomercato.com.

As Inter are still holding out for a permanent deal in January, a switch to Juventus also appears unlikely. The Bianconeri have other areas to strengthen, including at centre-forward, are unlikely to stump up a €35m cash offer this month, and Inter are still unwilling to strengthen a Serie A rival.

As Calciomercato writes, the current situation is at a standstill.
