Calum McFarlane was pretty guarded in Chelsea’s press conference today, but we did at least get some injury updates.

The tactic from the Chelsea press officer in sending interim coach Calum McFarlane into today’s press conference at short notice seemed to be to make sure he knew as little as possible.
The less he knew, the less he could say. And it worked pretty well. We got almost nothing out of the young caretaker.
He did at least have something to say on the one concrete topic of the day – the absent Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, who are close to a return from injury. The news on Estevao wasn’t as good.
“Estevao unfortunately won’t play for us this season. He is going to be out for a little bit of time,” McFarlane said.
“We’re here to support him. Joao and Cole, they trained, they’re in a good place. We don’t know yet, we’ll make a call tomorrow.”
It sounds like both are touch and go. We’d imagine there’s a good chance at least one plays, given it’s a Wembley semi final. With 48 hours to go until the match, it really feels like a coin toss in both cases.
The Estevao news is dreadful, but we already knew that.
Chelsea’s team collapse has been caused by (and led to) players individual ratings falling too.
Joe Cole has written about the Chelsea ownership and their failure to course correct even with things going so obviously wrong.
