Italy U21 captain and former Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola has won the first major honour of his career, as he and Olympiacos were crowned champions of Super League Greece after a 1-0 win over rivals AEK on Sunday.
Pirola joined Olympiacos in a surprise move from relegated Salernitana in the summer of 2024, moving to Greece for a fee believed to be in the region of €3m. He had joined Salernitana on loan and then on a permanent deal for around €5m the summer prior.
The young Italy hopeful has gone on to make 29 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25, including 18 in the Greek top flight and a further eight in the Europa League.

He was selected as a starter for Sunday’s 1-0 win over AEK, which handed Olympiacos the league title with three matches to spare.
The Greece Super League consists of 14 teams, who play each other twice over for a 26-game ‘regular season’. Then, the top four sides in the division play each home and away again to determine the overall league champion and to determine the rankings for qualification to UEFA competitions.
Olympiacos have played 29 games overall and have a 10-point gap between themselves and their closest competitors, Panathinaikos, with three games left to play.
