Manchester City forward Jack Grealish is set to hold career talks with incoming manager Enzo Maresca after a loan spell at Everton, as per reports.

Grealish spent the 2025-26 season on loan at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola, who managed his last game in Manchester City colours against Aston Villa on Sunday.

City have agreed a three year deal with Enzo Maresca to replace Guardiola, who allowed Grealish to revive his career by joining Everton on loan last summer after two seasons of the England international playing a bit-part role for the Blues.

“No doubt” – Pep Guardiola issues fresh update on Jack Grealish’s Manchester City future

After an encouraging first half of his loan season in Merseyside, Grealish suffered a stress fracture in his foot in January that kept him on the sidelines for the remainder of the campaign as he now faces uncertainty over his club future.

Report: Grealish set for Maresca talks to revive Man City career

Manchester City are expected to confirm the appointment of Maresca as head coach this week, with Guardiola already largely moved out of his Manchester city centre apartment and set for a sabbatical after bidding an emotional farewell to the City faithful across Sunday and Monday.

Maresca was identified by executives at the Etihad Stadium as a potent successor to Guardiola, with the former informing Chelsea bosses of preliminary talks with Manchester City before he parted company with the south-west London outfit on New Year’s Day.

As reported by Jeremy Cross of the Daily Star, Maresca is planning to hold talks with Grealish to discuss a revival of the Manchester City record signing’s career at the Etihad Stadium when the 46-year-old enters the building.

The report states that unless he is told otherwise, Grealish will be expected to report for Manchester City’s pre-season camp in July before the Blues jet off for their far East tour.

Could Grealish return to Man City next season?

If he can be convinced there is a genuine role for him at the Etihad Stadium and a certain number of minutes can be assured, there is every chance that Grealish could return to Manchester City next season.

Option to buy caveat, wages and contract – Why Everton are confident over Jack Grealish middle ground with Manchester City

Everton were understood to be keen on signing the 30-year-old permanently after his bright start to loan life with the Toffees. However, Grealish’s major January injury has clouded doubt over whether the Merseyside outfit reckon it worthy to justify the financial package involved on one player.

Grealish was believed to be earning around £300,000-per-week at Everton this season, with the Toffees covering 75 percent of that figure and Manchester City paying the rest.

The attacker’s wages and concerns over his fitness would make Hill Dickinson officials have a rethink over their summer transfer plans.

Meanwhile, Grealish could decide to return to City for the final year of his contract under a new manager and fight for a place in the backdrop of a refreshing season away from the Etihad Stadium.
