Andrée Jeglertz says Alex Greenwood was unavailable for our 1-0 win over West Ham United after picking up an injury in the week.
Our captain is expected to be ruled out for ‘a number of weeks’ as she begins to work her way back to fitness with the Club’s medical staff.
Speaking about Greenwood’s absence, Jeglertz said: “Alex picked up an injury during the week when she came back.
“We expect her to be out for a number of weeks.”
However, our Head Coach was also quick to highlight the positive performances of City’s defensive unit in Greenwood’s absence.
Gracie Prior came into the backline alongside Jade Rose, Leila Ouahabi and Kerstin Casparij, with the 1-0 win seeing us pick up our first clean sheet of the season against West Ham.
And with Rebecca Knaak also returning to the matchday squad, Jeglertz is pleased with the defensive options he still has available to him.
“Of course, I’d like to have Alex to select with the other players, but at the same time it shows the squad is strong," he added.
“And for the first time, we kept a clean sheet which is important for the team also.”
