Andrée Jeglertz praised his side’s never-say-die attitude after a gutsy 3-2 Barclays Women’s Super League win over Arsenal.
It looked like we’d have to settle for a share of the spoils after the visitors twice drew level to cancel out strikes from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Kerstin Casparij, only for Iman Beney to snatch a late winner with her first City goal.
The Blues move up to second in the WSL table with the win, which was our fifth in a row in all competitions.
And our Head Coach was delighted by the players’ drive to keep pushing for the three points, even after Arsenal had twice pegged us back.
Jeglertz said: "I felt ten years older in that second half! It's fantastic and something with this team that they just keep going.
“They believe so much in each other and the quality we have. Even if we concede, we still believe we can score and create chances.
"As a human being but also a footballer there'll always be setbacks, but the key his how you handle that.
“I think that's also giving value of how the team are feeling, and it shows this is a team who, if there's a setback they just keep going.
“They're strong together and that should win a lot of games for us in the future. We might concede, we might lose, but having this means we're still on the right track."
Jeglertz also heaped praise on Beney after her match-winning moment off the bench.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to life at City, and our Head Coach was delighted to see her progress rewarded.
"I'm so happy for her. She's taken so many big steps, from moving to Switzerland and coming to this big club,” he added.
“There's a lot of things going on just to do that but what she's shown, I'm so impressed.
"She's a big talent for us and I'm so happy she can be the one to score."
