Joan Laporta has resigned as Barça president to stand in the 15 March elections, in line with article 42.f of the FC Barcelona statutes.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, first vice-president Rafa Yuste has taken over as interim president and had been responsible for the sporting area. The decision was taken at an ordinary board meeting on Monday morning at the Spotify Camp Nou offices.

They include Institutional vice-president Elena Fort and Social vice-president Rafael Escudero, along with Ferran Oliver, Josep Maria Albert, Javier Barbany, Miquel Camps, Aureli Mas, Javier Puig and Joan Soler y Ferré.

Once these resignations are formalised, the Board of Directors will continue to exercise its functions until 30 June with a new configuration.

During this period the club’s top collegiate body will comprise Rafael Yuste as president, Josep Cubells as vice-president and secretary, Alfons Castro as treasurer, and directors Josep Ignasi Macià, Àngel Riudalbas, Joan Solé i Sust and Sisco Pujol.
