Leeds United look set to miss out on Jorgen Strand Larsen, with Crystal Palace closing in on a move from Wolves.

Fabrizio Romano said Palace had improved their proposal and were in talks with the player's camp to complete the deal, while David Ornstein of The Athletic reported the clubs were close to agreement at £45m plus £5m. Romano later described a £50m package with add-ons as almost done, and Ornstein added that Leeds bids had reached £40m but were not currently going higher.

Leeds had a bid rejected and stayed at the table, but would not go beyond what they view as a sensible valuation given the club's Profitability and Sustainability position.

Palace have identified Strand Larsen as a prime candidate to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta amid uncertainty over his future. Nottingham Forest have submitted a £35m offer for Mateta.

Should final details be agreed, the striker appears bound for Selhurst Park, leaving Leeds to pursue other options.
