Whether Joshua Zirkzee will still be at Manchester United come the close of the winter transfer window remains a mystery.
The 6ft 4in striker is heavily linked with a January exit.
Indeed, several reports suggest he is set to leave as he looks to stake a claim for a spot in the Netherlands’ FIFA World Cup squad.
With no European football and United’s early Carabao Cup exit, Zirkzee has endured a limited role this season, and it is claimed he is growing increasingly frustrated with his situation.
As a result, he wants more minutes in the second half of the campaign, and top clubs are already lining up proposals to convince him why they should be his next destination.
In the Premier League, West Ham United, Everton and Nottingham Forest are all keen on his services.
Meanwhile, AS Roma have also registered interest in Serie A, where Zirkzee previously impressed with Bologna before signing for United.
There is interest in Spain too, with Sevilla and Real Betis both closely monitoring the situation.
Clearly, Zirkzee is a man in demand, and these top clubs will be doing all they can to tilt the red-hot title race in their favour.
From the latest in Spain, Sevilla appear to be the team to watch.
According to OrgulloBiri, “Sevilla FC has begun negotiations with Manchester United to sign Joshua Zirkzee in the winter transfer window. The striker is a priority to bolster their attack.”
Furthermore, the report relays comments from Sevilla head coach Matías Almeyda, who admits
“He’s a profile that can give us a lot.”
That revelation makes it abundantly clear just how determined Sevilla are to land the Dutch talent. You have got to admire their intent.
However, whether it bears fruit remains to be seen because a transfer bombshell has just dropped.
The latest from M16 suggests Zirkzee is set to play a key role during the festive period, with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo expected to link up with their national teams for AFCON duty.
With both players away, Amorim reportedly wants Zirkzee available and hopes the 24-year-old will step up and take on a central role.
So, as zealous as Sevilla are to sign him, Zirkzee’s speculated January exit now looks likely to be blocked.
