West Ham have turned down an offer of £50m from Tottenham for Mohammed Kudus, and are expecting Chelsea to make a bigger offer according to journalist Jacob Steinberg.

Chelsea have already made three attacking signings this summer in Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, and haven’t ruled out bringing another one.

Estevao Willian has also been added to the ranks after the Blues agreed a deal last summer worth up to £51.4m for the 18-year-old.

West Ham expecting Chelsea to offer more than £50m for Kudus

If the Blues are to bring another forward in one of the current crop will need to leave, with Noni Madueke looking the most likely candidate.

Madueke has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, and Chelsea could look to replace him with Ghana international Kudus.

Chelsea have held talks with the agent of Kudus, and the 24-year-old is set to leave the Hammers this summer, with Tottenham and other clubs also interested.

Spurs are said to have made Kudus their priority target, and Steinberg has now provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“West Ham turned down a £50m proposal for Kudus from Spurs earlier this week but have not received any new offers since then.

“As reported earlier they are expecting a bigger bid from Chelsea.”

Kudus scored five goals in 32 Premier League appearances last season, with the Hammers thought to want around £60m.

Chelsea make Ethan Nwaneri enquiry

If Chelsea miss out on Kudus, they could be prepared to try a shock move for Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri, who’s in the final year of his contract.

The Blues have reportedly enquired about Nwaneri, who’s got a year left on his current deal and is yet to agree a new one.

Nwaneri is said to want assurances over game time, and Chelsea are ready to strike if a possibility emerges to sign the attacker.
