Julian Brandt, a Leeds United transfer target and free agent, has been pictured training at former club Bayer Leverkusen while he considers his next move. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, his father Jurgen held talks at Thorp Arch, with other teams also interested.

The 30-year-old left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season. He spent seven campaigns at Signal Iduna Park, making more than 300 appearances across competitions including the Champions League.

With no pre-season camp to join, Brandt returned to Leverkusen, where he first broke into senior football. He was at the BayArena for six years before a €25 million switch to Dortmund in 2019.

Images on Leverkusen’s official Instagram showed him working alongside Arsenal striker Kai Havertz. The pair were team-mates in Germany for three years between 2016 and 2019.

Brandt joined Leverkusen from Wolfsburg in 2014 and went on to play 215 games, scoring 42 and assisting 52. He made the Bundesliga Team of the Season in his final campaign at the club.

He then registered 57 goals and 70 assists in 307 matches for Dortmund, again earning a Bundesliga Team of the Season place in 2022/23. He also lifted the DFB-Pokal and featured in the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.
