Juventus and Lazio played out a 2-2 thriller, with Lazio surrendering a two-goal lead to a 96th-minute equaliser. The Laziali notes it ranked among the campaign’s most entertaining.
Before the interval Juventus swarmed, Lazio looked disoriented and only wasteful finishing kept Sarri’s side level. By full-time a golden chance to complete the double had gone.
With Alessio Romagnoli’s delayed departure still on the cards and the defender tied to Al-Sadd, Oliver Provstgaard again rose to the occasion. At 22 he cannot yet marshal the line, yet he offered a rugged, sacrificial presence against top opposition. If Mario Gila also moves on, pairing him with an experienced mentor could fast-track a centre-back with the potential to become one of the league’s best.
Daniel Maldini justified selection as centre-forward, starting slowly then troubling Gleison Bremer and robbing Manuel Locatelli to create the opening goal. He looks suited to counter-punching games, though effectiveness against compact defences remains unproven. His debut against Genoa saw him drop deep or drift wide, and Sarri appears unconvinced by the more classic Petar Ratkov.
Sarri maintains Matteo Guendouzi has not been properly replaced, and Toma Basic’s injury could keep him out for a while. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru underwhelmed, Reda Belahyane is in a similar boat, and thrusting Adrian Przyborek there could be premature. With Nicolo Rovella arguably the most skilful once fit and Danilo Cataldi the most reliable, a midfield of Kenneth Taylor, Cataldi and Rovella, with one stepping into a box-to-box role, could be the best option.
