Juventus have officially initiated contact to explore the possibility of bringing Federico Chiesa back to Turin from Liverpool.
According to Giovanni Albanese, the Bianconeri have opened preliminary discussions with the Premier League side after receiving a green light from the player himself regarding a potential return to the Allianz Stadium.
Notably, Juventus are keen to finalize a “Chiesa-bis” project as early as this month. Following a difficult period in England where the Italian international has struggled to replicate his best form—tallying just four goals and five assists in 18 months—the prospect of a January homecoming has gained significant traction. Furthermore, the 28-year-old is reportedly eager to reunite with former national team boss Luciano Spalletti, who is now at the helm of Juve, to boost his chances ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
However, the timing of the deal remains a sticking point. Indeed, Liverpool manager Arne Slot is currently navigating an availability crisis in his forward line, with Mohamed Salah away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Alexander Isak sidelined with an injury. Consequently, while Juventus are pushing for an immediate loan move, the Reds may delay any final decision until the final weeks of the window when their attacking options are bolstered.
As things stand, the verbal opening from Chiesa has shifted the momentum firmly toward a return to Serie A. Should the clubs reach an agreement on the loan formula, the ex-Fiorentina player could be back at Continassa before the end of the month.
