Konrad Laimer’s contract saga appears to be coming to an end. According to a report by Kicker, the financial differences have been resolved and a broad agreement has been reached with the Austrian on the verge of signing an extension beyond 2027.
Discussions between Bayern, Laimer and his entourage have been ongoing for around eight months and had made good progress, but financial differences became a problem which resulted in a break in negotiations. However, Kicker now report that productive talks have since resumed and an agreement is expected to be announced soon.
Although Laimer had no intention of leaving Germany’s record champions, Bayern were ready to sell should they not find a middle ground, rather than losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer in 2027. Now, the Rekordmeister have the right-back position, once a problem area with Sacha Boey failing to live up to expectations and Josip Stanišić on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, sorted for years to come with Laimer and Stanišić’s return, and upward trajectory in 2025/26 under Vincent Kompany.
