Lamine Yamal says Barcelona would welcome Julian Alvarez if a summer move materialises, with talk of a high-fee transfer continuing.

"I have said it already, we will welcome him with open arms, and if he comes, we will all be delighted. I do not know exactly where things stand, but I really hope it happens," he told Mundo Deportivo.

The 18-year-old spoke on Thursday, the eve of Spain’s World Cup quarter-final against Belgium on Friday at 21:00. He has 30 caps and seven goals for Spain.

Alvarez, 26, is at the World Cup with Argentina, who face Switzerland in the early hours of Sunday at 03:00. He joined Atlético de Madrid two years ago and has expressed a desire to leave this summer.

An offer from Barcelona is on the table, with the forward among the names shaping this summer’s market.
