The Belgian missed Chelsea’s entire pre-season campaign and is yet to feature this term.

Chelsea will need to be careful with the fragile Lavia. He has not been able to play consistently for the Blues, and he needs to be managed wisely.

His return to action comes at a pivotal time for Chelsea, with Dario Essugo pulling out of international duty for Portugal’s Under-21s over the weekend.

Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo also missed Ecuador’s clash with Paraguay, leaving the Blues short-staffed in the engine room.

Saturday’s clash with Brentford might prove too early for Lavia to return to action.

The Blues should give a chance to Andrey Santos to strut his stuff in the centre of the park.

There’s more great news on the injury front with Benoit Badiashile also returning to training.

The Frenchman is another Chelsea player whose injury setbacks have plagued him. He picked up a problem during the same clash with Benfica.

Badiashile’s return will be welcomed by the Blues, who are seeking defensive options in Levi Colwill’s absence.

Chelsea hope to continue their fine start to the season with a win over Brentford this weekend and have received a massive boost with the duo returning to training.
