Lazio have confirmed Mario Gila suffered an ankle sprain in the Coppa Italia semi-final against Atalanta, casting doubt over his immediate availability.
The club said in a statement that he sustained a minor contusive sprain to his ankle during the match. He has begun rehabilitation and will be reassessed in the coming days.
The Spaniard appeared to struggle after an early intervention to halt Nikola Krstovic. He tried to continue but was withdrawn midway through the second half for Oliver Provstgaard.
The tie finished 1-1 on the night and 3-3 on aggregate, with Lazio prevailing 2-1 on penalties thanks to Edoardo Motta’s heroics. The result booked a final against Inter Milan.
Gila will miss Monday’s trip to Udinese and is unlikely to feature against Cremonese. It remains to be seen whether he could return for the Inter Milan meeting on nine May, with the Coppa Italia final set for 13 May.
