Lazio issued an official statement on Friday denying a sale and saying no approach had been received, following claims of a Qatari bid for Lotito’s shares.
Cronache di spogliatoio reports that a Qatari fund offered €600 million for the club, and that Lotito was poised to reject after brief consideration.
Supporter groups have been boycotting home matches in protest at the ownership. More than 40,000 fans have signed an online petition urging the Italian senator to sell.
Lotito, 68, has run the club since 2004. His arrival stabilised finances, but frustration has grown over limited investment and a squad weakened by departures that were not adequately replaced.
Despite falling popularity, he has often reiterated his desire to stay and continues to plan ahead. The Stadio Flaminio renovation was presented on Tuesday, and his Lazio 2032 roadmap is due to be unveiled during the March international break.
The statement warned that spreading unverified information could amount to market manipulation for a publicly listed company. It added that the matter would be reported to the authorities and urged media to verify sources before publishing.
