Lazio have registered their interest in AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah, who reportedly has suitors in the Premier League as well.

Yunus Musah: Career Path & Milan Struggles

The 23-year-old is an Arsenal youth product who found success at Valencia, but struggled for playing time and consistency following his move to Milan in 2023. The American spent the previous campaign on loan at Atalanta, where he was deployed in various positions, but had limited chances to prove his worth.

Musah returned to Milanello this summer, but the Rossoneri are willing to entertain offers, especially with his contract expiring in 2028.

Lazio Tracking Musah: The Formula & Figures

In recent days, Lazio emerged as one of the player’s suitors, reportedly offering to take him on loan for €2 million with an option to buy for €18 million, which would turn into an obligation if they qualify for Europe. Although Gennaro Gattuso prefers to sign a natural attacking midfielder for his 4-2-3-1 formation, Il Messaggero believes he is an admirer of the versatile New York native.

Leeds United & Ipswich Town Join Musah Race

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile are also facing stiff competition from the Premier League, as Leeds United and Ipswich Town are both keeping tabs on the situation. This would be a return to England for Musah, who spent his formative years at Arsenal.

Why Musah Shouldn’t Be a Lazio Priority

Over the past few years, Musah has featured as a central midfielder, a wing-back, a winger, and an attacking midfielder. Nevertheless, one could argue that his most natural role is a box-to-box midfielder, as it emphasizes his ability to cover large spaces, drive the ball forward, and engage in physical duels.

Therefore, if Lazio are seeking an attacking midfielder, they might be better off searching elsewhere. Dinamo Zagreb’s Luka Stojkovic might be the right fit for the role, but the 22-year-old wouldn’t come cheap, with the  Croatian champions requesting more than €10 million as well as guarantees.
