Lazio season tickets collapse as boycott against Claudio Lotito leaves renewals near 2,000 | OneFootball

Lazio are braced for sparse crowds at the Stadio Olimpico next season, with barely more than 2,000 season tickets renewed in the initial window. According to L'Équipe, that first phase, limited to existing holders, equates to a 93% non-renewal versus last year’s 29,918.

A second phase, open to all since 23 July, is under way, but the club is heading for its worst tally since Claudio Lotito took charge in 2004. The nadir was 4,000 in summer 2016, before four years around 30,000, and even summer 2025 was a success despite no European football and a transfer ban.

The boycott launched in January has been maintained by the ultras, targeting the owner, not Gennaro Gattuso’s team. Their aim is to strain finances and force Lotito to sell, and average gates were around 30,000 this season at the 70,634-capacity stadium, the lowest since 2016-2017 outside the Covid period.

Discontent has been channelled through a petition from La Voce Della Nord on 13 February calling for Lotito’s departure, which has gathered 45,000 signatures. It says fans have not dreamed since he took over, notes no trophies since 2019’s Coppa Italia, and complains no thrilling signings have arrived in years.

Several fan favourites were sold last summer, including Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and thousands marched in Rome on two July. The team also lost the Coppa Italia final 2-0 to Inter Milan on 13 May.

Lotito does not appear set to step away. After buying Reggina in Serie D, he said on 21 July that he had asked Serie A to restore a multi-ownership model, which he framed as sporting policy rather than a personal matter. He appears unmoved.
