Lazio are preparing to part with Alessio Romagnoli. According to Sky Sport Italia, he will finalise a move to Al-Sadd in the coming days and Arnau Martinez is under consideration.
Romagnoli, a lifelong Lazio supporter, has pushed to leave since January amid a strained relationship with president Claudio Lotito. A winter switch to Al-Sadd collapsed late, but the Qatari champions renewed their pursuit in recent weeks.
The clubs have reportedly agreed a €3 million fee, with the former AC Milan captain set to earn €6 million per year.
Martinez, 23, has long featured on Lazio’s shortlist, initially as a right-back option. He is also comfortable at centre-back, bringing useful versatility. He is looking to leave following Girona’s relegation.
He could bolster centre-back options and provide right-back cover when needed. Manuel Lazzari could depart, with the returning Romano Floriani Mussolini in line to understudy Adam Marusic.
The Spaniard came through Barcelona’s La Masia and has been at Girona since 2018. He made 35 LaLiga appearances this season, with two goals and three assists, but they were relegated on the final day. His contract runs to June 2027, so he could be available at a discount.
