Leeds United’s opening-day opponents Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as head coach after Vitor Pereira’s exit. The club said in a statement that the outgoing Crystal Palace boss is only the third head coach to win both the Europa League and the UEFA Conference League.

Forest endured a turbulent 2025-26, cycling through Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and, from February, Pereira. He secured a 16th-place finish, five points above the drop and two behind Leeds, before a mutual termination clause was triggered last week.

Glasner guided Wolfsburg into the UEFA Champions League, then led Eintracht Frankfurt to the 2021/22 Europa League title. In England he won the 2024/25 FA Cup, followed by the FA Community Shield, then lifted the UEFA Conference League the next season.

He is regarded as a progressive coach with a strong record of player development and building ambitious, attacking teams. His sides have been noted for intensity and tactical organisation.

Forest announced the move on Monday morning. Glasner now begins pre-season work and will prepare the Reds for their Premier League opener against Leeds.
