With less than four weeks until the 1 September deadline, Leeds United are still shaping their squad. Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic are the only arrivals, while a move for James Trafford from Man City is yet to be confirmed. They still want a back-up goalkeeper, cover for Gabi Gudmundsson after his hamstring injury, another midfielder, an attacking midfielder who can play wide, and competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sky Germany reports Fulham are closing in on Southampton’s Shea Charles after three Leeds bids failed. Talks are described as advanced for a fee around £26m before add-ons, roughly €30m.
Leeds fans continue to await Trafford’s announcement, with a deal understood to be in place and dependent on his return from holiday. Asked this week, Man City head coach Enzo Maresca said Trafford remains a Man City player and Geronimo Rulli remains a Marseille player.
Pre-season has offered positives, and centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw has impressed after missing the defeat to Wrexham. He featured heavily against Sunderland and Liverpool, stepping in for Gudmundsson before the break. X claims Hamburg are considering a move for the former Wolfsburg defender, and a summer exit could appeal while he is back-up.
Jack Harrison ended his eight-year Leeds spell last month by joining New England Revolution permanently and was named a designated player. Speaking to his new club, he called it the best move of his career after being presented to supporters.
