Leeds United have been fined more than £500,000 this season for repeated late kick-offs and restarts.

The Premier League confirmed they have entered a sanction agreement after nine breaches of Rule L.33 covering kick-offs and half-time restarts.

Leeds accepted responsibility for delays between one minute 17 seconds and two minutes 50 seconds. The fixtures included home games with Everton, Newcastle United and Fulham, and away trips to Fulham, Burnley, Brighton and Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Brentford.

For the Everton home game, and at Brighton and Forest, Leeds delayed both the initial kick-off and the second-half restart. Penalties escalate from £10,000 for a first offence to £100,000 for an eighth.

The cumulative fines reached £530,000 after the home match against Fulham, which was delayed by just under 90 seconds.

Leeds have accepted and apologised for the breaches, and improving compliance with Rule L.33 has become a key objective, with staff and players working towards it.

Further delays of one minute to one minute 30 seconds will bring a £100,000 fine, more than 90 seconds £130,000, and over two minutes £170,000. Additional cumulative £20,000 will be added for each successive breach, capped at £200,000 for delays up to two minutes 30 seconds and £250,000 for those beyond. Leeds United were approached for comment.
