Leeds United’s survival hopes received another lift after relegation rivals West Ham United were beaten at Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Friday night’s 3-1 home win over already relegated Burnley had moved Leeds nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur and seven ahead of West Ham, with both rivals then still having four fixtures to play.
West Ham were next up in the relegation scrap, kicking off at 3pm at Brentford, having lost only one of their previous six league matches.
Brentford ran out 3-0 winners, rising to sixth and leaving the Irons in danger of dropping into the relegation zone.
Leeds now remain seven points ahead of West Ham with both clubs down to three matches each. West Ham host title-chasing Arsenal next. They are two points above third-bottom Tottenham, and Spurs can climb out of the drop zone and above the Irons if they win their game in hand at Aston Villa on Sunday night.
