Leeds United face a tricky injury picture before Sunday’s Premier League trip to West Ham, with welcome training returns offset by fresh absences.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Brighton win at Elland Road last weekend came at a cost as Anton Stach needed stitches for a cut suffered in an aerial tangle. The midfielder has also missed out on Germany’s World Cup squad.
Daniel Farke has two senior players back on the grass at Thorp Arch, but Stach and Sean Longstaff are unavailable. Ilia Gruev, Gabi Gudmundsson and Noah Okafor remain sidelined. Pascal Struijk is back in training and hopefully available, while Jayden Bogle could return depending on how he feels.
Farke described Stach’s issue as not major and said the midfielder might have been available had the game fallen next Wednesday. Longstaff underwent hernia surgery on Wednesday, leaving him out.
The head coach said Leeds still aim to finish strongly in a match that could influence the fight to avoid the third relegation spot. He stressed every point and position matters, and that extending the unbeaten run is the target despite a worsening injury picture. After finding a way past Brighton, he wants something similar at West Ham.
