Leeds United chase their first pre-season win when they face Premier League rivals Sunderland at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey tomorrow night. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke could hand a first start to Harry Wilson and decide whether Tarik Muharemovic is ready to feature.
Leeds lost 3-2 to Wrexham last weekend, with Joel Piroe and Sean Longstaff on target for a much-changed side missing several key players. The group available this time might look different, with some World Cup breaks ending and new signings bedding in.
There are triple injury concerns after Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all missed the Wrexham game. With those issues in mind, Alfie Cresswell, 19, could keep his place, while Muharemovic may be eased in from the bench.
At the back, James Justin and Joe Rodon both completed 90 minutes against Wrexham. Justin shifted roles to help others and could again fill in at centre-back, while Rodon, short of his best last time, might get more minutes.
On the right, Jayden Bogle came on at half-time and, with no international workload to manage, could start at right wing-back. If Farke opts for a back four, Bogle can drop deeper.
In goal, Alex Cairns is a sensible pick and could be the only senior option, depending on progress with James Trafford’s move to Leeds and Lucas Perri’s subsequent switch to Torino. A youngster such as Rory Mahady might be considered, but Cairns appears the pragmatic choice.
