Leeds United target Julian Brandt signs three-year Ajax contract

Leeds United have missed out on summer target Julian Brandt, with the Germany international joining Ajax on a three-year deal.

The club said in a statement that the attacking midfielder has signed in Amsterdam on a contract running to 30 June 2029.

Brandt, 30, became a free agent after his Borussia Dortmund contract expired, and Leeds made an offer during the summer.

His father, Jurgen, visited Thorp Arch for talks with Leeds officials, but the player considered other options and has opted for Ajax.

The 48-cap Germany international spent seven seasons with Dortmund, having previously played six campaigns for Bayer Leverkusen.
