Left-back discusses contract renewal with Corinthians again

Corinthians won the sixth title of the Conmebol Libertadores Feminina (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025) by defeating Deportivo Cali from Colombia in a penalty shootout 6 x 5 after a goalless draw in 90 minutes. With this international title, the Alvinegro also secured a spot in the FIFA Champions Cup – the Club World Cup of the modality – at the beginning of 2026 in England.

Upon the arrival of the Corinthians delegation at Guarulhos airport late last Sunday, October 19, left-back Tamires gave an interview to the press – in which the Central do Timão was present – and was asked about all the support from the Corinthians fans even from a distance and highlighted the continuation of the season with the Paulista Championship.

“It's a lot of wonderful things, right? We have won another Libertadores, now with a special taste, because we secured a spot for the World Cup and next year there is also the Champions Cup, so that also brings this extra taste. The way it was a very difficult Libertadores, two penalty shootouts, and knowing that the entire Neo Química was watching, that made us even happier. So, many things happening, many incredible things for Corinthians Feminino, I hope we continue on this path, now it's time to celebrate, rest, because there's the Paulista too, the year is not over yet,” she began.

She then commented on her future at the club, as she is one of the athletes with a contract until December 2025. Despite this, the number 37 revealed that negotiations should start in the coming days: “Regarding that, not yet. We will, I believe, have meetings now, post-Libertadores, that was the agreement with Corinthians. Let's wait, but I'm very happy that we achieved this feat, right, unprecedented, I think Corinthians, for all its reference, for all the years of work, in my opinion, was the club that deserved to be in this Champions Cup next year, with this spot for the World Cup”, she continued.

Finally, Tamires responded about the level of the 2025 Conmebol Libertadores Feminina when asked if this year's competition was her most challenging achievement with the Brabas jersey: “Look, to be honest, I think it's very difficult to remember all the difficulties we went through. Each title has its peculiarity, we have many challenges over the years, when we win comes this ecstasy of we won, we are champions, it's a lot of difficult things we go through in this process, but we enjoy each process, each challenge and certainly this Libertadores was also very challenging for us, but we were very happy to have overcome all the barriers and once again bring this title to our home”, she concluded.

Since her arrival at Corinthians Feminino in mid-2019, Tamires has played 203 matches with the Brabas jersey (169 as a starter), with 160 wins, 30 draws, and 13 losses – almost 84% success rate. Additionally, she has scored 36 goals and won 17 titles including Brasileirão, Libertadores, Super Cup, Copa Paulista, and Paulistão.
